Privacy is important.  When our family was dealing with uncertainties with our child’s development, we didn’t want everyone to know the details of our journey.  Working for a healthcare organization, our in-network providers are our friends and colleagues.  During such a sensitive time, we wanted privacy to select our team.

The electronic health care record in many health care systems is the same – Epic.  Epic’s feature of “Care Everywhere” allows providers across systems to share the information of your child.  We utilize EPIC, but we have the ability not to share the evaluation in the system if you desire.  While there can be benefits to sharing, this also limits your privacy as messages, requests, visits, and notes are shared with any provider taking care of your child. Our MyChart patient portal is where you can download your child’s evaluation and share it only with the providers who you deem appropriate.  Your child’s data is in your hands –  it can be shared easily to allow for care coordination, or it can be kept private to allow you to make decisions and control the direction of your child’s care.
